Job summary

New Appointments Group is recruiting a Field Service Engineer to service, inspect and repair equipment at customer sites across the Cardiff area. A practical, hands-on candidate who is reliable and comfortable on the road will thrive in this role.

Full training is provided and prior direct experience is not essential. The role is field-based with regular site visits, occasional overnight stays, and a company vehicle.

Qualifications

• A practical, hands-on individual comfortable using tools.
• Able to work on the road and visit multiple sites.
• Able to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Physically fit for site work and manual tasks.
• Full UK driving licence is required.
• Engineering or technical experience is helpful but training is provided.

Responsibilities

• Visit customer sites to service, inspect and repair equipment.
• Carry out minor repairs and adjustments and replace worn parts.
• Install, service and maintain equipment to consistent standards.
• Identify faults and resolve issues on-site.
• Complete service reports and keep accurate documentation.
• Perform health and safety checks after work is finished.
• Work independently and manage daily schedules and travel.
• Follow safety procedures at all times.

Field Service Engineer

Location: Cardiff area

Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday

We're recruiting a Service Engineer to carry out on-site servicing, inspections, installations and repairs across customer locations. While this is not a highly technical engineering role, it is hands‑on, physically demanding at times, and requires someone reliable, practical and comfortable working independently on the road.

Full training is provided, and previous direct experience is not essential. What matters most is a strong practical mindset, confidence using tools, and the ability to manage your own workload while representing the company professionally on‑site.

What you'll be doing

• Visiting customer sites, including schools, to carry out servicing and safety checks
• Carrying out minor repairs and adjustments, including replacing parts and maintaining moving mechanisms
• Completing installations, repairs and servicing to a consistent standard
• Identifying faults and resolving issues efficiently while on‑site
• Completing service documentation and recording work carried out
• Carrying out quality and safety checks following work completion
• Working independently, managing daily schedules and travel
• Following health & safety procedures at all times
• Feeding back recurring issues or product faults to the wider team

What we're looking for
