Job Title: Field Service Engineer

Salary: Competitive

Location: Gatwick, Crawley (applications from the outskirts of South or East London will be considered)

Job Type: Full Time, Permanent

Pearce Compaction Systems are manufacturers of Compactors & Balers for the waste and recycling industry. We have a large customer base for servicing, repairs, and breakdowns of our machines.

We have an exciting role for an enthusiastic, bright, and capable Service Engineer. We're looking for a quick learner who can absorb new ideas, communicate clearly, and possesses a good team spirit with a deadline-oriented approach.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  1. Carrying out servicing on compaction machinery.
  2. Carrying out reported repairs on compaction machinery.
  3. Carrying out breakdown repairs when reported, requiring good fault-finding skills.
  4. Installing new compaction machinery and delivering training on them.
  5. Completing all the correct documentation for all site visits.
  6. Driving to customer sites as scheduled by the main office in Verwood.
  7. Maintaining vehicle cleanliness both inside and out.
  8. Reporting any delays, accidents, or incidents to the Operations Manager.
  9. Delivering a professional and friendly service to all customers.
  10. Driving safely and courteously, obeying all traffic laws and regulations.
  11. Reporting any mechanical problems or deficiencies with your vehicle.
  12. Completing vehicle inspections including checking diesel oil, water, oil, tyres, and lights.
Required Skills:
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Experience with hydraulic systems
  • Good knowledge of electrics
  • Good fault-finding skills
  • Knowledge of MIG welding (not essential)
  • Ability to work independently
  • Fork Lift Truck licence (preferable)
  • Ability to stay away from home when required (not often)
  • Calmness under pressure
  • Initiative
  • Courteousness
