Job summary

Quantum Detectors Ltd. invites applications for a Field Service Engineer (Electron Detector Systems) based at Harwell Campus, Oxford. This hands-on role installs, commissions, and maintains detector equipment and read-out systems at customer sites worldwide.

You will diagnose hardware and software issues, train users after installations, and travel internationally. The role offers 35 hours per week, £30,000–£45,000 DOE plus discretionary bonus, and benefits including enhanced pension and campus

Qualifications

• Hands-on field service experience in installing, maintaining, or repairing electronic or electromechanical hardware.
• Experience in scientific instrumentation or related technical industries.
• Comfortable using standard test equipment and lab instruments.

Responsibilities

• Install, commission, and maintain detector equipment and electronic read-out systems at customer sites worldwide.
• Provide user training after installations and triage hardware/software issues.
• Diagnose, repair, and escalate issues with clear communication and documentation.
• Maintain service records and contribute to internal knowledge bases.
