Job summary

Roundhouse Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Field Service Engineer to service, diagnose and repair construction machinery across a Midlands patch. You’ll mainly work on excavators and related heavy equipment with full product training and clear progression opportunities.

The role offers a 39-hour week, no regular overnight stays, Friday early finish, and attractive overtime rates. Trainings lead to senior technician or team leadership paths.

Qualifications

• Background in construction plant, heavy plant, agricultural machinery or heavy commercial vehicles / HGVs.
• Strong practical hydraulics and electrical diagnostic experience.
• Confident fault finding across heavy mobile machinery.
• Recognised Level 3, NVQ, City & Guilds or equivalent technical qualification.
• Excavator experience advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Field-based servicing, diagnostics and repair of construction machinery.
• Work on small to medium excavators and heavy plant.
• Diagnostics across mechanical, hydraulics and electrics.
• Breakdown diagnosis and troubleshooting.
• Regional Midlands patch with no overnight stays.
• Mon-Thu 08:00–16:30; Fri 08:00–15:30.
• 39-hour basic week with hours paid at 1.5x.
• Full manufacturer and product training.
