Job summary

Astute seeks a Field Service Engineer to support renewable energy sites around Chelmsford. You will join the Renewables team, performing planned maintenance, fault diagnosis, site surveys and precise documentation to sustain safe operations.

The role offers a salary of £30,000-£36,000 DOE, a company van and tools, and a clear path into utility-scale solar across regional sites.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 Electrical Qualifications or equivalent is required.
• C&G 2391 Testing and Inspection certification is preferred.
• 17th/18th edition wiring regulations knowledge is essential.
• At least 1 year experience in industrial, commercial or domestic maintenance is desirable.
• Full UK Driving Licence is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planned inspection and maintenance per requirements.
• Perform reactive maintenance, fault diagnosis and resolution promptly.
• Carry out site surveys as needed and document results accurately.
• Maintain detailed records of electrical testing and safety documents for audit.
• Ensure output meets quality, reliability, cost and productivity targets.
• Comply with Health & Safety policies.

Astute's Renewables team is exclusively partnering with a utility scale solar O&M company to recruit a Field Service Engineer for its sites in the Chelmsford and the surrounding areas.

This role comes with a salary of £30,000 - £36,000 DOE, company van and provides an excellent opportunity to move into the utility scale solar world.

Responsibilities and duties

Reporting to the Head of Operationsyou will:

• Assisting with planned inspection and maintenance according to legal, technical, manufacturer and contractual requirements. Learning around reactive maintenance, fault diagnosis and standard operating procedures
• Performing reactive maintenance, fault diagnosis and resolution in a timely manner
• Carrying out site surveys requests as required
• Compiling accurate and appropriate documentation for both internal and external stakeholders in a precise and timely manner
• Keeping accurate and detailed records of electrical testing, High Voltage and safety documents that are suitable for audit
• Ensuring that work output meets technical quality, reliability, cost, and productivity
• Complying with the company Health & Safety Policy

Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

• NVQ Level 3 Electrical Qualifications or equivalent
• C&G 2391 Testing and Inspection
• 17th/18th (preferably) edition wiring regulations
• Ideally at least a year's experience from within in a maintenance work in either an industrial, commercial or even domestic capacity
• Full UK Licence
