Job summary

Sierra 57 Consult is seeking a Field Service Engineer to install and commission RPM and related injection moulding machinery and automation at customer sites across the UK. You will provide on-site technical support, diagnose complex faults, and maintain detailed service records.

The role requires hands-on electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to travel within the UK, including occasional weekend work.

Qualifications

• NVQ 3 in engineering or equivalent qualification.
• Time served apprenticeship and proven machine maintenance experience.
• Experience with injection moulding machinery and automation desirable.

Responsibilities

• Install and commission injection moulding machines and automation at customer sites.
• Provide on-site technical support and troubleshoot faults.
• Maintain service records and equipment history using internal systems.
• Diagnose electrical, mechanical and hydraulic faults; repair as needed.
• Build and maintain strong customer relationships and communications.
• Travel across the UK; occasional weekend work may be required.
• Comply with company safety and quality policies.
• Assist with documentation, training, and cross-team knowledge sharing.

Overview:

Working exclusively alongside our client, an established high profile global manufacturer and supplier of injection moulding machinery and bespoke automation, to source a Field Service Engineer to support continued business growth in the UK.

Remit:

• Exceptional job opportunity working for a leading Injection moulding machine manufacturer
• Candidates must have extensive injection moulding machinery, process and maintenance experience
• This position will suit a skilled Injection Moulding Engineer with strong machine maintenance background and the relevant electrical qualifications

Role:

• To install and commission RPM, injection moulding machines and automation at customer sites, ensuring appropriate commissioning in line with the manufacturers guidelines.
• Provide on-site technical support to customers, troubleshooting issues with injection moulding machines and automation.
• To maintain accurate records of service activities, including service reports and equipment history, using our internal systems.
• The candidate must have strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills, to repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults on injection moulding machines and automation.
• Be able to build and maintain strong working relationships with customers and colleagues, ensuring clear communication and timely resolution of technical issues to maximise customer satisfaction.
• Must possess a willingness to travel the UK to meet both customer and company requirements, including occasional weekend working.
• To comply with all company policies and procedures.
• Where appropriate, support the development of documentation and training within the service team. Support cross-training of personnel, ensuring skills & knowledge gained through formal training are applied consistently.
• Support all company safety and quality programs and initiatives.

Experience Requirements:

• National Certificate/NVQ 3 in a relevant engineering discipline.
• Time served apprenticeship.
• Proven experience working with injection moulding machinery and ancillary equipment
• Fault-finding and troubleshooting skills both electrical and mechanical
• Must have experience of installation and commissioning of injection moulding machinery
• Experience of Polyurethane processing equipment an advantage but not essential.
• Knowledge of Siemens PLCs and ABB robots would be beneficial, but not essential.
• Self-disciplined to manage own projects/jobs within the targeted time frame.
