Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Install, commission and service industrial machinery.
  • Diagnose and repair hydraulic, mechanical and electrical faults.
  • Carry out preventative maintenance and breakdown support at customer sites.
  • Read drawings and technical documentation.
  • Provide on-site customer support and maintain maintenance reports.

Location: Telford, Shropshire
Salary: £40,000 - £48,000 DOE

Hours: Full-Time, Monday to Friday
Travel: UK-Wide Travel Required

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Field Service Engineer to join a specialist engineering business supplying and supporting high-performance industrial machinery across the UK.

This role offers a combination of workshop-based work in Telford and field-based service, installation and maintenance activities at customer sites nationwide. We are looking for a hands‑on engineer with strong hydraulic and electrical fault-finding experience who enjoys variety in their work and is comfortable travelling throughout the UK.

Key Responsibilities
  • Installation, commissioning and servicing of industrial machinery and equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults.
  • Carry out preventative maintenance and breakdown support at customer sites.
  • Perform electrical wiring and fault-finding activities, including work on 3-phase systems.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics and technical documentation.
  • Undertake workshop assembly, testing and refurbishment work at the Telford facility.
  • Produce service reports and maintain accurate maintenance records.
  • Provide excellent customer support and technical assistance during site visits.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with health and safety procedures.
About You
  • Previous experience in a Field Service Engineer, Service Engineer, Maintenance Engineer or similar role.
  • Strong understanding of hydraulic systems and fault diagnostics.
  • Experience with electrical wiring and fault-finding.
  • Knowledge of 3-phase electrical systems is highly desirable.
  • Mechanically minded with excellent problem-solving abilities.
  • Comfortable travelling across the UK, including occasional overnight stays.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Based within a commutable distance of Telford to support workshop requirements.
  • Strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
