We currently have an excellent opportunity for a Field Service Engineer to join the Proseal team near Manchester.

Proseal UK Ltd designs and manufactures high-quality tray sealing and conveying systems for the food industry, with manufacturing facilities in the UK, North America, and Australia. Established for 25 years, Proseal has become the UK’s leading manufacturer of tray sealing machinery and tooling, recognized internationally with manufacturing in the US and Australia, and offices in Ireland, Holland, Spain, Canada, South America, and Dubai.

The Opportunity

The Field Service Engineer role is vital to our success, ensuring top-tier on-site service levels and customer support. Candidates must always project a strong, positive image of the company.

Jobholder Responsibilities
  • Perform preventative maintenance (PPM) on machinery and tooling.
  • Commission machines, conveyors, tooling, and bespoke equipment on-site.
  • Support breakdown situations on-site.
  • Participate in on-call and scheduled service duties.
  • Provide remote support to customers and engineers.
  • Conduct operator and technical training at customer sites or Proseal locations.
  • Respond to on-site support requests independently or as part of a team.
  • Understand and fulfill customer requirements through active listening.
  • Complete all administrative tasks promptly.
  • Assist in machine building or testing in the workshop as needed.
  • Contribute to process and service improvements.
  • Stay updated on new technologies and procedures.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction before leaving site.
  • Report progress and follow-up needs to the Service Manager before departure.
  • Provide feedback on common issues and potential defects.
  • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Perform any additional duties as required by management.
  • Comply with statutory and Proseal health and safety requirements.
Aptitudes Required
  • Work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication skills, especially in high-pressure situations.
  • Be flexible regarding working hours and locations, including working away from home.
  • Be punctual, reliable, flexible, and self-motivated.
Experience and Qualifications

Essential:

  • Recognized apprenticeship in mechanical or electrical engineering or equivalent.
  • NVQ level 3 in electrical installation or maintenance.
  • Valid UK driving license.
  • Current passport for potential international travel.
  • Proficient in MS Office (PDF, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Understanding of health and safety regulations.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of pneumatic systems.
  • Experience with PLC systems, including uploading/downloading programs.
  • Understanding of motion control systems, servo motors, and frequency inverters.
