Job summary

Wallace Hind Selection LTD is seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer for UK & Ireland coverage, mainly home-based with extensive travel to food and beverage packaging lines. You will fault-find, repair, refurbish and commission end-of-line machinery and PLC upgrades, including Siemens PLCs. The role requires 2–3 nights away per week and one weekend per month, with full training provided.

Qualifications

• Proven hands-on field service experience in packaging machinery.
• Experience fault finding, modifying and upgrading PLCs (Siemens or similar).
• Electrical/electronic engineering qualifications and a track record in food/beverage packaging sectors.

Responsibilities

• Repair, refurbishment, installation and commissioning of end-of-line packaging machinery.
• Diagnose faults and implement PLC modifications/upgrades.
• UK & Ireland coverage with 2–3 nights away per week and one weekend per month on average.

A great Field Service Engineer role! We want to find an accomplished and qualified Multi-skilled Engineer who has specific experience of fault finding AND ideally, specifically of modifying and upgrading of Siemens PLC`s (or similar) used in end of line packaging machinery.

BASIC SALARY: up to £50,000

LOCATION: Home based and ideally living in the Midlands or North of England (although Midlands preferable)

COMMUTABLE LOCATIONS: Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham, Nottingham, Stoke, Sheffield, Leicester

JOB DESCRIPTION

A classic Field Service Engineer role involving repair, refurbishment, installation and commissioning of end of line packaging machinery including working with PLC`s, ideally capable of fault finding, modifying and upgrading of Siemens PLC`s, or similar.

You will be covering the whole of the UK and Ireland, and will be expected to spend 2 to 3 nights per week away from home, plus working one weekend a month on average.

• Full training will be offered on the job and occasionally at HQ in Europe.
• Full training will also be provided on upgrading & modifying PLC`s.
• Overtime is paid door to door.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

• You MUST have a proven track record as a Field Service Engineer with hands on packaging machinery experience working in the food and/or beverage markets.
• You will be a Multi-skilled Engineer with electrical & electronic engineering qualifications and ideally specific experience and training on fault finding, modifying & upgrading of Siemens PLC`s, or similar.
• We will consider applicants with a track record as a Factory Maintenance Engineer who have hands on end of line packaging machinery experience, used in the food and/or beverage market and who have the PLC knowledge mentioned above.
