Job summary

Wallace Hind Selection LTD is seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer to repair, refurbish, install and commission end-of-line packaging machinery across the UK and Ireland, with a focus on fault finding and PLC upgrades.

The role involves 2–3 nights away each week and occasional weekend work, with comprehensive on-site training and a clear path to advanced PLC modification skills. A multi-skilled electrical/electronic background is essential.

Qualifications

• Proven field service engineering experience in packaging machinery, preferably food/beverage sector.
• Multi-skilled with strong electrical/electronic background and PLC fault-finding ability.
• Experience with modifying or upgrading Siemens PLCs or similar systems.

Responsibilities

• Repair, refurbish, install and commission end-of-line packaging machinery.
• Troubleshoot and fault-find PLCs; perform upgrades and modifications as needed.
• Cover the UK & Ireland; travel 2–3 nights per week and one weekend per month.

Job description

A great Field Service Engineer role! We want to find an accomplished and qualified Multi-skilled Engineer who has specific experience of fault finding AND ideally, specifically of modifying and upgrading of Siemens PLC`s (or similar) used in end of line packaging machinery.

BASIC SALARY: up to £50,000

BENEFITS

LOCATION: Home based and ideally living in the Midlands or North of England (although Midlands preferable)

COMMUTABLE LOCATIONS: Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham, Nottingham, Stoke, Sheffield, Leicester

JOB DESCRIPTION

A classic Field Service Engineer role involving repair, refurbishment, installation and commissioning of end of line packaging machinery including working with PLC`s, ideally capable of fault finding, modifying and upgrading of Siemens PLC`s, or similar.

You will be covering the whole of the UK and Ireland, and will be expected to spend 2 to 3 nights per week away from home, plus working one weekend a month on average.

• Full training will be offered on the job and occasionally at HQ in Europe.
• Full training will also be provided on upgrading & modifying PLC`s.
• Overtime is paid door to door.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

• You MUST have a proven track record as a Field Service Engineer with hands on packaging machinery experience working in the food and/or beverage markets.
• You will be a Multi-skilled Engineer with electrical & electronic engineering qualifications and ideally specific experience and training on fault finding, modifying & upgrading of Siemens PLC`s, or similar.
• We will consider applicants with a track record as a Factory Maintenance Engineer who have hands on end of line packaging machinery experience, used in the food and/or beverage market and who have the PLC knowledge mentioned above.
