Job summary

Briggs Equipment is seeking a Field Service Engineer for Heysham Port on a permanent basis. You will service and repair customer equipment at site, diagnose faults, source parts, and ensure work is carried out to Briggs engineering standards.

We expect a relevant technical qualification and experience in hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems. You will work independently, manage workloads, and communicate clearly with customers to minimise downtime and cost.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a similar role.
• Good understanding of hydraulic, mechanical and electrical principles.
• Ability to work independently and under pressure.
• Ability to manage and prioritise workload.

Responsibilities

• Attend customer locations to determine scope of work, agree priorities, and ensure safe working practices.
• Liaise with controller and customer on timescales and costs to ensure clarity.
• Identify root causes of breakdowns and obtain correct parts cost-effectively with Briggs Technical team as needed.
• Ensure all work complies with engineering standards and manufacturer specifications.
• Carry out inspections and tests to ensure equipment is safe and performs properly before handover.
• Inform customers of any further work and potential costs to maximise revenue.
• Complete all related job and service documentation with signatures.

The Opportunity: FieldService Engineer

Contract: Permanent

Location:Heysham Port

The Impact you will have:

• Attending customer locations to determine the likely scope of the work required, assessing and agreeing with the end user his/her work priorities, ensuring safe working practices are adhered to.
• Both at outset and as work progresses, liaise with controller and customer on the range of expected work providing clarity and understanding by all parties the likely timescales and associated costs are understood.
• Identifying the root cause of a breakdown in a timely manner and ensure the correct parts are obtained in the most cost-effective way. Use any available resources to achieve this, including when required the Briggs Technical team
• Ensuringall work complies with engineering standards and, as relevant, Briggs/manufacturer specification/tolerances.
• Carrying out inspection/checks on own work as it proceeds and ensuring that the equipment performs satisfactorily and is safe before handing back to the customer.
• Identifying any further work required on a machine and ensure the customer is made aware of the fact, especially where a cost to the customer is to be incurred. The engineer should ensure that they maximise and potential revenue for equipment that has been damaged.
• Completingall related job and service documentation is correctly, with necessary signatures/documents obtained from the customer.

• Overtime is payable at x1.5 Monday – Saturday and x2 on Sunday
