Job summary

Technopath UK Office is seeking a Service Engineer to provide technical support to customers and staff, covering installation, maintenance and repair of medical diagnostic or laboratory equipment.

A strong fault-finding ability across electrical, electronic, mechanical and fluidics systems is required, plus IT literacy and the willingness to travel nationwide, including occasional overnight stays and a full UK driving licence.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years in a similar technical role.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • PC literacy with good knowledge of Windows and Office.
  • Electrical/Electronic engineering background preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to customers and staff for installation, maintenance and repair of medical/scientific equipment.
  • Service, repair and support of diagnostic or laboratory instruments.
  • Perform fault-finding across electrical, electronic, mechanical and fluidic systems.
  • Read schematics and use electrical test equipment; communicate effectively with customers.
  • Travel nationwide within the UK, including potential overnight stays.
  • Maintain high service standards and attention to detail in a field-based role.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

This Service Engineer role is to provide Technical Support to Customers and staff in the form of installation, maintenance and repair for both Customer and Demonstration systems.

Experience servicing, repairing, and supporting medical diagnostic or laboratory equipment.

Strong fault-finding skills across electrical, electronic, mechanical, and fluidics systems.

Good understanding of IT systems, Microsoft Office, Windows environments, and diagnostic software. Ability to read schematic and circuit diagrams and use electrical test equipment.

Excellent communication, customer service, organisation, and time management skills.

Self-motivated, flexible, and able to work independently in a field-based role.

Electrical/Electronic Engineering qualification (minimum City & Guilds Level 3 or equivalent preferred).

Previous field service engineering experience within medical or scientific instrumentation.

Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationwide, including occasional overnight stays.

Comfortable working under pressure while maintaining high service standards and attention to detail.

Key Skills and Competencies

Minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar technical role.

Qualified to a Higher level in a relevant technical/electronics discipline.

Good communication, problem-solving skills are essential.

Strong communication & interpersonal skills are a prerequisite

PC literate with good working knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office products.

Qualifications

Applications are encouraged from engineers with a broad range of backgrounds, including laboratory device, medical device, pharmaceutical device, ex forces engineers (medical & dental, weapons systems, radar) and a wide range of other electronic or electro-mechanical sectors

Engineers with experience of the diagnostics field, including autoimmune diagnostics, immunology, biochemistry, haematology, histology, microbiology and immunodiagnostics systems are also encouraged to register their interest.

A competent background in a customer-facing field service engineering capacity gained within any high value capital equipment environment is an advantage.

Location Requirement

UK based, some travel to Ireland may be required in a support and training capacity.

Travel around UK and time in the field supporting and engaging with customers.

Some EMEA travel as and when required for supplier training.

Attend meetings in the head office Uk and or Ireland.
