Job summary

TRS Consulting is seeking a Field Service Engineer to service and repair sophisticated medical and laboratory diagnostic systems across NHS laboratories. The role involves visiting customer sites, troubleshooting, and providing practical solutions.

The successful candidate will have a background in field service or technical support for high-value capital equipment and hold an electronics qualification. Training will be provided to support career progression.

• Experience on diagnostic systems, medical devices, lab systems, or high-value capital equipment.
• Full product training provided; applications accepted from field service and customer support backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Service and repair on medical and laboratory diagnostic systems used in pathology, NHS laboratories and clinical chemistry environments.
• Visit customer sites and troubleshoot to provide effective solutions.
• Liaise with NHS and private sector laboratory managers and technicians.

Job description

Field Service Engineer, Medical DiagnosticSystems

Basic Salary £52,000; Car Allowance £7,200; Bonus £6,000; Pension; Income protection; Life insurance; Private Healthcare; 25 days holiday plus bank holidays; Full product training.

This role will involve working five days out of seven and will include some weekend work.

Responsibilities

• Service and breakdown repair on a wide range of sophisticated medical and laboratory diagnostics systems utilised within pathology departments, NHS laboratories and clinical chemistry environments.
• Visiting customer sites and providing valuable solutions for troubleshooting.
• Liaising with external customer contacts including laboratory managers and technicians from the NHS and private independent scientific organisations and laboratories.

Qualifications

• Competent background as a field service engineer or technical support engineer with extensive experience working on high‑value capital equipment and a qualification in electronics.
• Experience working on diagnostic systems, medical devices, laboratory systems, scientific equipment, pharmaceutical, semiconductor, pre‑press, printing or high‑value electronic/electro‑mechanical capital equipment.
• Full product training will be provided, so applications are considered from candidates with a background in field service and customer support.
