Job summary

Dennis Eagle UK is seeking a Field Service Engineer to service, repair and maintain specialist vehicles at customer sites and company workshops across the UK. This mobile role requires diagnosing faults, performing servicing and ensuring compliance with transport standards.

You will travel to customer sites, log work with PDA software and contribute to safe, high-quality service. The role offers a Monday–Friday schedule with 45 hours per week and salary in the £51k–£53k range.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance.
• Previous experience in Field Service or HGV mechanics.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
• Knowledge of vehicle technology systems and compliance standards.
• Autonomy and ability to manage workload.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Willingness to travel across the UK.
• Experience with electric vehicles or IRTEC/HGV2 bonus.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair faults on vehicle chassis and mounted equipment
• Carry out servicing and maintenance to a high standard
• Prepare vehicles for MOT inspections and ensure compliance with Department Of Transport specifications
• Use diagnostic software and tools to identify and resolve issues
• Log all work using PDA software and maintain accurate service records
• Travel to customer sites across the UK, sometimes at short notice
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment at all times
• Communicate clearly with customers and provide excellent service
• Support health and safety practices and complete risk assessments as required

Role: Field Service Engineer

Location: you'll be required to cover the South London area, but you'll be allocated to the Croydon Service Centre

Hours: 45 hours per week | between 08:00 and 17:30 Monday to Friday

Salary: between £51,831- £53,445.60 pa DOE

This is a mobile role where you’ll be responsible for servicing, repairing, and maintaining specialist vehicles at customer sites and company workshops. You’ll play a vital role in ensuring our vehicles are safe, compliant, and operating at peak performance.

Ideal Candidate

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance


• Previous experience in a similar role (Field Service, HGV Mechanic, Workshop Engineer)


• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills


• Knowledge of vehicle technology systems and compliance standards


• Comfortable working independently and managing your own workload


• Excellent communication and customer service skills


• Flexible with working hours and willing to travel


• General computer literacy and ability to complete technical documentation


• Experience with electric vehicles, IRTEC qualification, or HGV Class 2 licence is a bonus
