Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a field-based technician to service and repair Volvo construction equipment within the UK region. You will diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and engine faults using diagnostic tools and communicate progress and recommendations to customers.

You will complete documentation in real time, uphold safety standards, and proactively identify opportunities to maximise machine uptime through effective servicing and maintenance.

Qualifications

NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in plant maintenance or related engineering discipline.
Proven experience repairing heavy construction plant.
Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrics, and diagnostics.
Advanced fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently in a field-based environment.

Job description

Service, maintain, diagnose, and repair Volvo construction equipment and associated machinery within the designated region
Identify and resolve mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and engine-related faults using technical expertise and diagnostic equipment
Act as the primary customer contact, providing updates on machine status, repair progress, and recommended actions
Complete job documentation, inspection reports, timesheets, and electronic records accurately and in real time
Maintain high standards of safety, professionalism, housekeeping, and compliance with company policies and procedures
Build strong customer relationships and identify opportunities to improve machine performance and maximise uptime

Requirements

NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Plant Maintenance, Agricultural Engineering, HGV Maintenance, or a related engineering discipline
Proven experience maintaining and repairing heavy construction plant
Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, drivetrains, electrics, and diagnostic systems
Advanced fault-finding and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently in a field-based environment
Strong communication and customer service skills
Full UK driving licence
Flexibility to travel, work overtime, and support customer requirements when needed
