Job summary

Electus Recruitment is seeking a Field Service Engineer to support specialist military training systems across the UK. The role is hands-on, combining electronic and electromechanical engineering with maintenance, troubleshooting and technical support at military training facilities.

You will travel to sites across the UK, perform scheduled maintenance, assist users with equipment operation, and produce technical reports while ensuring safety and reliability.

Qualifications

• Formal electrical or electronic qualification, or equivalent practical experience.
• Electronics-focused or electromechanical engineering background.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritise workloads.
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to produce technical reports and communicate effectively.
• A full UK driving licence.
• Existing Security Clearance or the ability to obtain clearance before starting.

The Opportunity

An established engineering business is looking for a Field Service Engineer to support specialist military training systems at sites across the UK. This is a hands‑on role combining electronic and electromechanical engineering with practical maintenance, troubleshooting and technical support. You will work at military training facilities, supporting users with system operation and ensuring equipment operates safely and reliably. The role also involves scheduled maintenance and callouts at other UK locations, with overnight stays required depending on location.

Experience as a Gunner Mechanic, Electrical Mechanic or Gun Fitter would be advantageous.
Flexibility to travel extensively throughout the UK is essential.
This is an opportunity for an engineer who enjoys practical, hands‑on work and wants a varied role supporting specialist equipment in a military training environment.
This role is a permanent position.
