Job description
Field Service Engineer - South West

The purpose of this Field Service Engineer is to support the technical needs of Philips Imaging customers and customer service partners in the South West district. Two positions are available: one MRI focused based in Bristol and a second focusing on Diagnostic X‑Ray and Image Guided Therapy based in Cardiff / Newport.

Responsibilities
  • Install, maintain, and repair advanced imaging equipment.
  • Provide on‑site and remote technical support to customers and colleagues, following relevant training and experience.
  • Diagnose mechanical, hardware, and software failures; determine cost‑effective repair or replacement solutions to minimise customer downtime.
  • Carry out corrective and preventive works, installation, and field change order activities.
  • Participate in a 5×7 remote‑support rotation with the Field Service Engineer team.
  • Travel to customer sites up to 25 % of the time, often on short notice, and be available for overtime and weekend work as required.
  • Report directly to the District Service Delivery Manager for the South West.
Qualifications
  • HNC (NVQ Level 3 or higher) or a degree in Electro‑engineering or a comparable field.
  • Logical problem‑solving ability and the capacity to work independently.
  • Experience in corrective and preventive maintenance for imaging systems.
  • Broad product knowledge across multi‑modality imaging equipment.
  • Awareness of emerging technologies and ability to adapt to daily challenges.
  • Competence in IT/Network diagnosis, system connectivity, and remote service.
  • Residency in the South West region – preferably Bristol or Cardiff areas.
  • Standard DBS (Disclosure and Baring Service) criminal record check required.
Work Environment

The role demands flexibility: overtime, weekend shifts, and frequent short‑notice travel to customer sites are part of the job. The engineer will work in a regulated healthcare setting with strict quality and safety requirements.
