Overview of the role

The Bestway Group is the UK's largest independent wholesaler with diverse business interests, from banking and cement companies in Pakistan to retail and wholesale businesses in the UK. As a family-owned business with a turnover exceeding £2bn annually, it acquired the UK's 3rd largest pharmacy business in 2014. In 2015, Bestway Medhub was launched, establishing itself as a key supplier for independents nationwide. The 2023 acquisition of Lexon UK Ltd further strengthened our position in the healthcare sector. To sustain this success, we are seeking a new field-based Sales Manager covering the Northeast, Yorkshire, West Yorkshire, and the Humber to drive Lexon sales and expand our market share by supplying pharmacy dispensing products and appliance services to the independent pharmacy sector. Our expertise in large-scale buying, distribution, and community healthcare allows us to offer a unique market proposition. Our strengths, including our dedicated team and efficient warehouse operations, enable us to provide tailored commercial solutions to meet our customers' needs.

Main Responsibilities

  • Be self-motivated and target-driven to achieve high sales performance and manage accounts within our customer base for Lexon UK Ltd, serviced via our Durham depot, covering Generic, PI, Dressing, OTC, and Surgical offerings, including the DAC scheme through Wardles.
  • Manage and develop relationships within a well-established territory, engaging with both existing and new customers and colleagues to enhance business success and meet revenue and SLA targets.
  • Develop and grow our business by maintaining high standards of customer service, ensuring an increasing and profitable customer base.
  • Identify and prioritize prospective new customers, gaining access to key decision-makers to secure business.
  • Maintain a comprehensive database of all customers, including contractual details, pricing, service level agreements, and metrics. Review and report on management information, identify trends, and propose actions to improve sales, margins, and customer relationships.
  • Implement effective communication channels with sales colleagues and the buying team to leverage market intelligence and strengthen our customer proposition.
  • Maintain operational and system processes that are customer-focused, efficient, compliant with policies and legislation, and timely.
  • Implement a robust business retention program to achieve all retention targets in the designated area.

Key knowledge and skills required for the role:

  • A proven track record of winning and retaining new business in a field-based account management role.
  • Experience in wholesale, preferably within the pharmacy sector.
  • Ability to quickly develop rapport and build lasting professional relationships.
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic, competitive, with the ability to work autonomously.
  • Ideally, you will be located near Leeds.
