Job summary

Southern Housing is seeking skilled Multi Traders to join our Direct Services team in Brighton, Horsham and Crawley, delivering high-quality repairs and maintenance to residents.

As a field-based role, you will carry out multi-trade tasks, manage your own workload, and strive for first-time fixes while keeping residents informed.

You will need trade qualifications, a robust health and safety knowledge, and a willingness to work evenings or weekends, alongside a 24-hour emergency call-out rota.

Qualifications

• Proven track record in Direct Labour Service or similar repairs environment.
• Trade qualifications (City & Guilds or NVQ Level 2/3) or equivalent across multiple trades.
• Experience delivering repairs across different trades.
• Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and building regulations.
• Ability to diagnose faults and achieve a first-time fix where possible.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with residents.
• Flexible, proactive approach and a strong 'one team' mindset.
• Willingness to work evenings/weekends and participate in a 24-hour emergency call-out rota.
• Full UK driving licence with no more than six points and at least two years driving experience.

Responsibilities

• Carry out a wide range of repairs across homes in Brighton, Horsham and Crawley.
• Perform multi-trade tasks such as plumbing, carpentry, plastering and tiling.
• Manage own workload day to day and meet service targets.
• Deliver work right first time and keep residents informed throughout the repair process.
• Participate in a 24-hour emergency call-out rota as part of a fair and planned schedule.
