Job summary

Yorkshire Water is seeking a Metered Customer Service Advisor to read meters and resolve metering issues across the Sheffield area. This fixed-term 23-month role requires outdoor work across multiple postcodes, with a strong focus on accurate readings and customer service.

You will work 37 hours weekly, with driving duties and a commitment to health and safety. The role offers a company van, pension, and performance-based bonus opportunities.

Qualifications

• Outdoor role requiring comfort in all weathers
• Manual handling including lifting manhole covers
• Understanding how your role fits within a business plan
• Full driving licence with ≤6 points
• IT skills and ability to adapt to new systems
• Experience in customer service
• Ability to work independently

Responsibilities

• Record water meter readings by locating meter chambers and recording readings
• Maintain regular meter reading rounds and location notes
• Attend customer appointments for investigations into high/low consumption
• Carry out ad hoc meter readings as required
• Identify and replace damaged meters where possible
• Identify street furniture defects and remedial actions
• Ensure compliance with Health and Safety policies
• Contribute to team performance and health & safety objectives
• Demonstrate financial awareness in day-to-day decisions
