Job summary

United Utilities in Prescot is seeking an Instrumentation Field Service Engineer to keep critical equipment running safely and reliably. You'll diagnose faults, perform planned maintenance, and calibrate instrumentation across sites in the North West.

This hands-on role offers autonomy and a local patch around Prescot, St Helens and surrounding areas. A UK driving licence and Level 3 qualification in instrumentation or a related field are required.

Qualifications

• Level 3 qualification in Instrumentation, Electrical, Control or Mechatronics.
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• Experience working with industrial/process instrumentation or similar.
• Ability to read technical drawings, manuals and P&IDs.
• Full UK driving licence.
• A proactive, independent working style.

Responsibilities

• Fault-finding, repairing and calibrating instrumentation including flow, pressure, level and analytical equipment
• Completing reactive and planned maintenance across the Prescot region
• Supporting installations, upgrades and project teams with technical expertise
• Providing high‑quality digital work records and documentation
• Working safely and professionally across all sites
