We’re looking for a dedicated Field Operations Technician to support the critical infrastructure of our UK South West network (Devon and Cornwall) . This role is essential to ensuring the continued performance, stability, and integrity of our telecom services. As we expand and maintain our infrastructure, your contribution will help us deliver reliable and high-quality services to our customers. Your work will directly impact our operational efficiency, service uptime, and customer satisfaction across the region.
Work full-time (Monday to Friday, 08:30–17:30) as part of the UK South West Field Operations team.
Install, decommission, and troubleshoot network equipment and circuits at an intermediate level.
Perform both preventative and on-demand maintenance of network and critical infrastructure.
Be part of a 24x7 on-call rotation, including standby, call-outs, dispatch, and overtime as required.
Travel regularly between core sites and amplifier locations (a valid UK driving licence is required).
Manage assets: process deliveries, replenish consumables, and coordinate shipping/receiving of materials.
Maintain and operate tools, test sets, and a range of electronic equipment (e.g., fibre optic transmission systems, multiplexing gear, AC/DC power units).
Assist in the installation, provisioning, testing, and maintenance of telecom services such as Waves, Ethernet, and SDH.
Troubleshoot and replace faulty network components, track spares, and manage repairs.
Monitor the network for potential faults, identify root causes, and help restore service during interruptions.
Maintain accurate records of installations and faults, update ticket logs, and provide status reports.
Continuously learn and use relevant systems and applications needed for your job.
Ensure all sites meet security and cleanliness standards.
Leverage knowledge of DWDM and transport platforms (e.g., Nokia, Ciena, Adva); familiarity with subsea PFE systems is a bonus.
