Job summary

East West Connect Ltd is seeking an experienced Fire Alarm Engineer to install, commission, service and maintain fire alarm and smoke control systems across multiple sites. You will diagnose faults on conventional and addressable panels, perform PPMs, surveys, and testing while ensuring compliance with BS 5839-1 and related standards.

A full UK driving licence and professional certificates are required. The role involves travel between customer sites, on-call duties, and up-to-date CPD.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years' experience in fire alarm servicing and maintenance.
• Full UK manual driving licence.
• FIA Fundamentals Units 1 & 2 – Fire Detection and Alarm Systems in Non-Domestic Premises.
• FIA Advanced Maintainer Course.
• Knowledge of BS 5839-1 and smoke control systems.
• BS 7671 18th Edition.
• FESS (ECS) Systems Operative Card.
• Asbestos Awareness, Manual Handling, Working at Height and Hazard & Risk Awareness (CITB).
• Good fault-finding, communication, organisation and customer service skills.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics and system documentation.

Responsibilities

• Install, commission, service and maintain fire alarm and smoke control systems.
• Diagnose and resolve faults efficiently across conventional and addressable systems.
• Carry out PPM visits, reactive repairs, site surveys and system testing.
• Work in accordance with relevant British Standards, including BS 5839-1, BS 7346-8 and applicable industry codes.
• Complete accurate service reports, certificates and electronic job records.
• Maintain van stock and raise equipment requisitions as required.
• Follow company Health & Safety policies and safe systems of work.
• Build positive customer relationships and represent EWC professionally.
• Participate in the on-call rota, toolbox talks and team meetings as required.
• Complete mandatory training and a minimum of 50 hours of CPD annually.
