Job summary

Anglian Water is seeking an Environmental Pollution Technician to join our Water Recycling team in Ely. The role is outdoors, responds to environmental incidents, collects samples and supports mitigation activities to protect local watercourses.

We offer a permanent, full-time position with a 37-hour week, standby rota, and a comprehensive benefits package including private healthcare and a generous pension scheme.

Qualifications

• Full UK manual driving licence.
• Availability to participate in standby rota and out-of-hours working.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and record-keeping abilities.
• Proactive, adaptable and resilient approach to work.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Confidence using digital systems and technology.
• Ability to work safely in varying environments and weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Responding to pollution and environmental incidents across the region.
• Collecting environmental samples, photographs and site evidence.
• Assessing environmental impacts and supporting mitigation activity.
• Helping operational teams identify root causes and prevent reoccurrence.
• Installing, maintaining and recovering environmental monitoring equipment.
• Maintaining pollution response equipment and consumables.
• Collaborating with operational teams, scientists and environmental specialists.
• Promoting a proactive, zero-pollutions mindset across the business.
