Job summary

Vulcain Engineering UK is seeking a Field Engineer to ensure works on site meet contract standards through proactive surveillance and timely reporting of non-conformances. You will review contractor performance, verify inspection records, and identify quality issues before they impact progress.

The role requires mechanical engineering knowledge, welding proficiency, and familiarity with ISO 9001 and ISO 19443 standards. Local Bridgwater residency is preferred for this permanent position.

Qualifications

• NDT Inspector- PCN Level 2/Cofrend (ISO 9712 L2) – UT, RT, MT, PT, VT.
• Welding CSWIP 3.1 or IWI-B.
• Knowledge of Quality standards - ISO 9001 and ISO 19443.
• Knowledge of mechanical engineering principles and practices.
• Experience with LQRS / NCR's.

Responsibilities

• Check Works are constructed in accordance with the contract and notify the Construction Superintendent of non-conformance request requirements.
• Submit details of any non-conformance request requirements to assist in the issuing of non-conformance reports.
• Proactively communicate with other site teams and contribute surveillance information to support KPI indicators.
• Identify potential Quality issues before they arrive to enable mitigating actions.
• Take temporary measures to mitigate, keep works within quality standards, and follow up with appropriate actions to prevent delays.
• Ensure tasks comply with health, safety and environment requirements.
• Develop and maintain understanding of drawings, construction activities, and Quality Control Plans.
• Monitor that Quality Inspection Records are taken and agreed before works are covered up.
