Job summary

Vulcain Engineering UK is seeking a Field Engineer to ensure works meet contract standards through proactive site surveillance and timely reporting of non-conformances. You will review contractor performance, verify inspection records and identify quality issues before they affect progress.

Ideal candidates have mechanical engineering knowledge, welding proficiency and familiarity with ISO standards, and reside near Bridgwater or are willing to relocate for this permanent role.

Qualifications

• HND in Civil/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• NDT Inspector PCN Level 2/Cofrend (ISO 9712 L2) – UT, RT, MT, PT, VT.
• Welding CSWIP 3.1 or IWI-B.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 19443.
• Knowledge of mechanical engineering principles.
• Experience with LQRS / NCRs.
• Reside locally to Bridgwater or be prepared to relocate, as this permanent role does not include travel expense coverage.

Responsibilities

• Check the Works are constructed in accordance with the contract and notify the Construction Superintendent of non-conformance request requirements.
• Submit details of any non-conformance request requirements to assist in the issuing of non-conformance reports.
• Proactively communicate with other site teams, maintain good communication links and ensure surveillance is timely reported and contribute surveillance information to support KPI indicators.
• Endeavour to identify potential Quality issues before they arrive to enable mitigating actions.
• Support team instructions to take temporary measures to mitigate and keep works safe and within Quality standards. Follow up by taking appropriate and proportionate action to prevent the halt of works.
• Ensure tasks are developed to quality in accordance with the company’s requirement for health, safety and environment.
• Develop and maintain an understanding of construction drawings, construction activities, Quality Control Plans and Quality Inspection Records.
• Ensure and monitor that Quality Inspection Records are taken and agreed before works are covered up.

The Position

Mechanical engineering knowledge, welding proficiency, and familiarity with relevant industry standards are essential.

Some of the main responsibilities of the Field Engineer will include:
