About The Role
As a Field Engineer with Indigo, you'll play a crucial role in delivering top-tier telecoms engineering infrastructure and technical services to our customers and end clients. This position requires high technical competence and a commitment to maintaining Indigo’s Safety, Health, Environmental, and Quality (SHEQ) standards.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Field Deployment & Maintenance: Provide first-line maintenance and field deployment support, including new build activities, responding to maintenance calls within SLA, fault finding, and hardware replacement with TAC assistance.
- Installation & Commissioning: Perform installation and commissioning duties in project and maintenance environments.
- Timely Response: Ensure timely intervention to meet SLA requirements.
- On-Call Support: Participate in the on-call rota for out-of-hours support.
- Communication: Keep Indigo GSC updated and provide feedback to Line and Project Managers.
- Documentation: Complete and submit all required paperwork within SLA.
- Technical Tasks: Fault finding, installation of metalwork, fibre and cable pulling, copper termination, and testing.
- Risk Management & Safety: Manage Risk Assessment and Method Statement documentation, and maintain SHEQ standards.
- Skill Development: Develop fault diagnosis skills using OTDR and Ethernet/OSA testing.
- Vendor Products & Audits: Install vendor-supplied products and supervise subcontracted activities; perform HSE audits.
- Customer Satisfaction & Ownership: Ensure deployment success and take ownership of faults until resolution.
About You
- Telecoms Infrastructure: Qualified and experienced in building telecoms infrastructure, ensuring quality adherence.
- Commissioning & Hands-On Experience: Entry-level telecoms commissioning skills and experience in installation, commissioning, and network build.
- Fibre Splicing & Equipment Installation: Proficient in fibre splicing and familiar with equipment from Nokia, Juniper, Tellabs, Infinera, and Ciena.
- Customer Interface & Communication: Proven skills in customer interactions and report writing.
- Pressure Management & PC Literacy: Able to work under pressure; proficient in Microsoft Office 365 and Visio.
- Workload & Flexibility: Capable of managing workload, meeting SLAs, and adapting to business needs.
- Driving Licence: Full UK Driving Licence required.
