Job description

Oscar Technology is currently recruiting for a Field/Installations Engineer to join an exciting software house producing software and hardware solutions. Their main focus is around asset tracking, fleet management, and high-security systems for local government and nationwide clients across the UK, with plans for expansion into Europe.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

1. Traveling across the UK to install, configure, and maintain cabinets.
2. Conducting fault-finding and troubleshooting on firewalls and network connectivity issues after installation.
3. Deploying pre-written scripts and performing database backups as part of routine maintenance.
4. Traveling and working with another field engineer on-site.
5. Communicating with clients to explain setups and address questions.
6. Overnight stays may be required during installations or maintenance, fully covered by the company.
7. Maintaining accurate documentation of installations, configurations, and troubleshooting steps.
8. Following health and safety guidelines.

Requirements:

1. At least 2 years of experience as a field service engineer.
2. Experience with installations into control boards and use of power drills.
3. Knowledge of health and safety guidelines.
4. Ability to communicate effectively with customers on-site.
5. Flexibility to travel across the UK.
6. Full UK Driver's License.
7. Experience with fault-finding, mainly troubleshooting firewalls.
8. Knowledge of Linux and scripting.
