Job summary

OAL in Peterborough is seeking a hands-on Installation Engineer to join our engineering team. You'll build, install and commission automation systems, working from drawings and installation checklists, and collaborating with colleagues across engineering and projects.

This role involves testing, fault-finding, producing documentation, and travelling extensively across the UK with overnight stays. A full UK driving licence and the ability to commute regularly to Peterborough are essential.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation (completed or in progress).
• ECS Card incl. Electrical Safety Essentials; Gold Card preferred or in progress.
• Strong practical skills in electrical building, wiring and installation.
• Good understanding of electrical safety and sound engineering practices.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel extensively across the UK.

Responsibilities

• Build, wire and test electrical panels and automation systems in workshop.
• Install electrical containment and infrastructure at customer sites.
• Carry out electrical testing per regulations and site requirements.
• Work from engineering drawings and installation checklists.
• Support commissioning, testing and handover of automation systems.
• Produce accurate installation documentation, test records and fault reports.
• Collaborate with colleagues across engineering, projects and operations.
• Communicate professionally with customers and identify improvements.
