Responsibilities

  • Implement quality control procedures.
  • Ensure all calls are permanently assigned.
  • Carry out service user assessments prior to commencement of service.
  • Attend service user’s first call to introduce the care worker to the service user.
  • Coordinate staff matching for all service users with care supervisor.
  • Provide rapid response when a call is unavailable and cover as needed.
  • Attend service user reviews with managers until independent.
  • Report changes to care schedules promptly to Supervisors/Coordinators.
  • Keep reporting and recording procedures up to date.
  • Organise supervision, appraisals and spot checks for staff.
  • Liaise with care supervisor, registered manager, service users and staff.
  • Share on-call responsibilities with Rapid Response Team.
  • Ensure adherence to RMS systems in care delivery.
  • Ensure carers meet RMS/CQC standards.
  • Ensure efficient delivery of care.
  • Assist in covering the Care Coordinator role when needed.
  • Implement/organise field-based training.
  • Carry out other tasks assigned by the Registered Manager.

  • 1. Implementation of quality control procedures.

  • 2. Ensuring all calls are permanently assigned.

  • 3. Carrying out service user assessments prior to commencement of service.

  • 4. Attending service user’s first call to introduce the care worker to the service user.

  • 5. Liaising closely with Field care Supervisor to ensure correct service user/care worker matching for all service users.

  • 6. Rapid response for all service users, in the event of an existing care worker being unable to do any calls, assigning suitable alternative care workers for those calls, or cover the call(s) personally, until such time as the permanent care worker is able to return to work or an alternative regular care worker is sourced.

  • 7. Attending service user reviews (with RGN Case Managers until able to do so independently).

  • 8. Ensuring that all changes to care schedules are reported, without delay, to the Care Supervisor and Coordinators.

  • 9. Ensuring all reporting and recording procedures are up to date.

  • 10. Organising/ conducting supervisions, appraisals and spot checks for all nurses/ care workers

  • 11. Liaising closely with care Supervisor, registered manager, service users and care workers.

  • 12. Carrying a company mobile phone and rotational on- call responsibilities with the Rapid Response Team.

  • 13. Ensuring rigorous adherence to all RMS systems pertaining to the delivery of care.

  • 14. Ensuring the quality of carers sent out to work meet RMS’s and CQC minimum standards.

  • 15. Ensuring the delivery of care is efficient and meets RMS’s quality standards.

  • 16. Assisting whenever required, in covering the Care Coordinator role in the Rainbow offices.

  • 17. Implementing/ organising field- based training

  • 18. Carrying out any other tasks assigned by the Registered Manager


It is crucial that the Field Care Supervisor assumes responsibility for the efficient running of their assigned role. They must spend 90% of their working week in the field, the rest of their time in the office in order to complete their necessary administration/ paper work.


The Field Care supervisor must arrange to vary their hours of work in order that they can monitor all care being provided and so that their care workers know that they are constantly being monitored.


Although the role of the Field Care Supervisor includes a certain amount of \"policing\" they should always provide a supportive role to the care workers and service users.

  • Maintain all care plans/care records in accordance with the service’s policy and audit care records following company policy to ensure compliance

  • Develop and maintain a duty rota to meet the needs of the service users that the service supports

  • Develop and maintain annual leave requests to ensure staff receive their annual leave and there are enough staff on duty to support people

  • Leadership Skills

  • Ability to induct and orientate new employees to the job role and service

  • Organise and plan supervision and appraisals for care staff

  • Provide and oversee staff providing service users with support/assistance as they accomplish daily tasks, including bathing, eating, dressing, grooming and using the bathroom

  • Dispense medication following the service’s policies and procedures

  • Ensure that the staff allocated and the staff attending each service user have the relevant skills, knowledge and resources related to the opportunities and needs of that person

  • Communicate any problems, concerns or changes to peoples’ family members as needed

  • Communication Skills

  • Field Care Supervisor need to build rapport with service users by establishing personal connections and showing interest in their lives

  • The post-holder should recognise the importance of effective communication within the multidisciplinary team, with service users and their families/friends whilst recognising people’s needs for alternative methods of communication, and respond accordingly

  • Excellent telephone manner is required to deal with staff and service users under pressure

  • Ensure that each staff member is introduced to the service user before or at the beginning of the first visit by that staff member, and that the service user always knows who to expect at each visit

  • Problem-solving Skills

  • Field Care Supervisor need to be able to adapt and address situations quickly

  • Plan, develop, implement and assess approaches to promote health and well being, whilst recognising and reporting situations where there might be a need for protection

  • Manage travel delays and staff shortages to fully mitigate the impact on the service user, managing and minimising their distress and insecurity in such situations
