Job summary

Unipart in Nuneaton seeks a highly analytical Solutions Design Engineer – Transport to act as the data-driven engine of the transport team. You will focus on medium-to-long-term optimisation, delving into data to model futures and support strategic projects across the network.

The role covers data analysis for tenders, performance benchmarking, and evaluating new technologies, with a field-based setting and a fixed-term contract through June 2027.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in logistics, supply chain, or a data-intensive role.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high accuracy.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills essential.
• Experience in transport routing and scheduling.
• Ability to think strategically beyond daily ops.
• Excellent communication to translate data for stakeholders.
• Proactive mindset; keen on continuous learning.

Responsibilities

• Analyse historical transport data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for network improvement.
• Model impact of changes such as new depot locations, routing strategies, or delivery patterns.
• Develop, monitor and report KPIs for cost, service, and sustainability (cost-to-serve, asset utilisation, carbon).
• Provide data insights to build business cases for new technologies and process changes.
• Support tender and solution reviews with essential data analysis; evaluate emerging technologies.
• Assess carrier performance against service levels and cost benchmarks; provide data-driven insights.
