Job summary

SWARCO UK is seeking a Trainee Installer for Exeter Depot in Devon. This field-based role offers hands-on outdoor work learning to install, maintain and commission traffic signals and pedestrian crossings, supported by experienced teams.

No prior experience required; candidates with practical electrical/engineering exposure or a strong desire to learn are encouraged to apply. Company vehicle and benefits accompany a strong entry path and professional development.

Qualifications

• Some electrical, engineering, construction, lighting or other practical experience acceptable.
• An electrical qualification, college course or similar would be beneficial.
• A practical approach and an interest in how things work.
• Good problem-solving and communication skills.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to work outdoors and travel to customer sites and roadsides.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the installation and commissioning of traffic signals and associated equipment.
• Learning how to test, maintain and fault-find electrical equipment.
• Working safely on customer sites and following site procedures.
• Working alongside experienced engineers and installers to develop your skills.
• Completing relevant training and industry qualifications as you progress.
• Building your experience with technology that helps keep people and communities moving safely.
