Job summary

SWARCO UK is seeking a Trainee Installer for Exeter Depot in Devon. This field-based role offers hands-on outdoor work learning to install, maintain and commission traffic signals and pedestrian crossings, supported by experienced teams.

No prior experience required; candidates with practical electrical/engineering exposure or a strong desire to learn are encouraged to apply. Company vehicle and benefits accompany a strong entry path and professional development.

Qualifications

• Some electrical, engineering, construction, lighting or other practical experience acceptable.
• An electrical qualification, college course or similar would be beneficial.
• A practical approach and an interest in how things work.
• Good problem-solving and communication skills.

• Willingness to work outdoors and travel to customer sites and roadsides.

Responsibilities

• Supporting the installation and commissioning of traffic signals and associated equipment.
• Learning how to test, maintain and fault-find electrical equipment.

Looking for a hands-on career where you can learn new skills, work outdoors and make a real difference? We're looking for a Trainee Installer to join our team in Devon.

You don't need to be an experienced Installer. If you have some electrical, engineering or practical experience – or you're simply keen to learn and build a career – we'd love to hear from you. You'll work alongside experienced members of our team, learning how to install, maintain and commission traffic signals, pedestrian crossings and intelligent transport equipment in our urban portfolio.

No two days will be the same – you'll be working outdoors, visiting different sites and gaining hands-on experience in the world of intelligent transport. All weathers and roadside working will be part of the role.

You'll ideally have:

• Some electrical, engineering, construction, lighting or other practical experience.
• An electrical qualification, college course or similar would be beneficial.

• The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• A willingness to work outdoors and travel to customer sites and work on roadsides.

Don't have Sector 8, ECS or traffic signals experience yet? That's okay – we'll help you develop your skills and qualifications.
