Job summary

Bristol City Council is seeking a Stock Condition Surveyor for an initial 4-month contract. The role is field-based across Bristol with remote administration for documentation and reporting. A driving licence and proactive, organised approach are essential.

You will undertake surveys on residential properties, assess conditions, and collect data to inform asset management and investment plans. This is a demanding but rewarding assignment within local housing services.

Qualifications

• Experience in property surveying or construction-related discipline.
• Good understanding of building construction, components and defects.
• Ability to work independently and manage a busy workload.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Undertake stock condition surveys across occupied and vacant properties.
• Record building component ages, condition and replacement needs.
• Identify defects, hazards and compliance concerns (HHSRS).
• Collect accurate property data for asset management planning.
• Manage diary, appointments and survey workload.
• Liaise with residents and stakeholders during inspections.
• Contribute to improvements in housing stock data quality.
