Job summary

Mears Group PLC is seeking a versatile Multi-skilled Operative for a field-based role across the Yorkshire and Humber region. You will contribute to a busy repairs contract, delivering high-quality work across plumbing, joinery, plastering and tiling in void properties.

The role requires experience in multiple trades, strong customer service, and full UK driving license, with a typical 42.5-hour week from Monday to Friday.

Qualifications

• Experience in a core trade (Plumbing, Joinery, Plastering or Tiling).
• Experience in multiple trades.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Full UK driving license.
• Willingness to travel across Yorkshire and Humber where required.

Responsibilities

• Identifying Void works and carry out works where necessary.
• Completing plumbing tasks including removing old shower trays, fitting and replacing baths and taps
• Joinery duties include fitting doors, work tops and kitchen cupboards
• Repairing or replacing internal doors, handles, locks, and hinges
• Carrying out patch plastering and making good, damaged walls or ceilings
• Completing wall and floor tiling repairs, including grouting and sealing
• Painting and decorating to a professional finish following repair works
• Ensuring all repairs are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard
• Working in occupied properties with sensitivity to residents’ needs and privacy
• Reporting any further works, safeguarding concerns, or property issues beyond scope
• Deliver excellent customer service while working in residents' homes
• Accurately record job details, materials used, and completion notes using handheld devices or job sheets
• Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicle in good working order
• Manage daily workload efficiently to meet service level targets
