Job summary

Essex County Council is seeking a dedicated Community Support Worker in Harlow to support adults with complex outcomes and safeguard their independence. You will work across teams, assisting social workers, carers, and partners to deliver person-centred care plans and community connections.

The role emphasizes safeguarding, advocacy, and collaboration with Mental Health teams and external agencies. A driving licence and mobility are required, with visa restrictions noted.

Qualifications

• Experience within a social care setting is desirable.
• Evidence of continuing professional development in a relevant area.
• Experience building strong relationships with adults, their families, and carers in times of challenge and crisis.
• Experience undertaking direct, activity-based work with adults.
• Knowledge of legislative and policy guidance applicable within Social Care settings.
• A First Aid certificate and/or Sign Language knowledge is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Supports social workers and occupational therapists to implement and monitor care plans.
• Maintains high standards of professional practice contributing to service-level improvements.
• Highlights issues and implements safeguarding plans for vulnerable adults.
• Builds strong relationships with clients, families and carers to provide practical support and advocacy.
• Works collaboratively with internal and external partner agencies to deliver joint objectives.
• Provides information and advice on involvement/accessing third-party agencies relevant to client needs.
• Attends meetings, reviews, case conferences and court hearings to provide information and evidence.
