Job summary

Essex County Council is seeking a Community Support Worker in Harlow on a permanent, full-time basis. The role offers a salary from £26,284 to £33,256 per annum and requires mobility across the ECC area. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK; visa sponsorship is not available.

You will work with adults and carers to promote independence, support planning and safeguarding, alongside social workers and MH teams. Driving is required or mobility through other means.

Qualifications

• Experience in a social care setting and ongoing professional development.
• Ability to build strong relationships with adults, families and carers.
• Experience delivering direct, activity-based work with adults.
• Knowledge of relevant social care legislation and policy guidance.
• A First Aid certificate and/or Sign Language knowledge is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Support social workers and occupational therapists to implement care plans.
• Maintain high professional standards and contribute to service improvement.
• Safeguard vulnerable adults and escalate issues as needed.
• Advise and advocate for clients, enabling independence and wellbeing.
• Work with partner agencies to achieve joint objectives and improved outcomes.
• Provide information on accessing third-party services (benefits, housing, immigration).
• Attend meetings, case conferences, and relevant panels to share information.
• Annual targets within the performance framework are defined.
