Job summary

SPT Labtech is looking for a Field Application Scientist to provide expert support for our liquid handling products across the UK and Europe. The role is a 12‑month fixed term maternity cover, home‑based with extensive travel to customers and conferences.

You will bridge Sales, Marketing and customers, delivering pre‑sales demos, training, and product expertise. A strong background in genomics workflows and automation, with excellent communication skills, is essential.

Qualifications

• MSc or PhD in biological sciences with relevant automation experience.
• Strong knowledge of NGS methods and genomics workflows.
• Experience in laboratory automation or liquid handling is a plus.
• Willingness to travel extensively (up to 75%).

Responsibilities

• Organise and run on-site instrument demonstrations and remote software demos.
• Deliver pre-sales technical presentations with Territory Managers.
• Maintain knowledge of SPT Labtech & Apricot products and related applications.
• Provide training and remote/in-person support to users.
• Develop advanced protocols to optimise customer workflows.
• Attend conferences in the UK/Europe and document activities in Salesforce.
• Mentor Associate FAS colleagues when needed.
