Job summary

McHale Komatsu, a UK leader in construction equipment technology, is seeking a Special Applications & Field Support Engineer. You will install, commission and support our evolving portfolio of machine-control and safety systems across the Komatsu range.

Based depot-based with field support, you will travel UK-wide for installations, training and customer handovers, ensuring high-standard workmanship and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Experience with construction plant or heavy equipment is required.
• Able to read wiring diagrams and hydraulic schematics.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Good IT skills and familiarity with diagnostic software.
• Strong communication and customer-service skills.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the UK.
• Experience with Komatsu iMC / machine-control systems is advantageous.
• Manufacturer training or recognised technical qualifications are beneficial.
• Self-motivated, organised and detail‑oriented with a passion for engineering.

Responsibilities

• Install and commission technology on Komatsu machinery and test systems.
• Complete electrical, hydraulic and mechanical installations.
• Configure, calibrate and test machine-control sensors and hardware.
• Install tiltrotators, safety systems and operator-assistance tech.
• Inspect, handover and document installations with reports.
• Travel nationally to support customers and depot networks.
• Assist Field Service Engineers with diagnostics and repairs as needed.
• Support servicing when specialist installation is not required.
