Job summary

Dakota Hotels in Leeds is seeking a reliable Kitchen Porter for a festive fixed-term contract running from 26 October 2026 to 10 January 2027. This zero-hours role requires good availability across key festive dates and a flexible approach to shifts to support peak service periods.

You will wash pots, pans and crockery, keep kitchen areas clean, and help maintain safety and cleanliness standards. A background in cleaning or cooking and a willingness to learn health and safety practices are

Responsibilities

• Wash pots, pans, crockery, glassware and cutlery throughout the day.
• Store and organise cleaned items to ensure chefs have required equipment.
• Carry out daily break room cleaning and twice-daily kitchen deep cleans.
• Keep Back of House areas clear and bin stores neat and clean daily.
• Follow waste disposal and recycling procedures and maintain waste storage area.
• Adhere to health and safety guidelines, especially chemical handling and manual handling.

Job description

We are seeking a hard-working individual suitable for a cleaning-based role for the position of Kitchen Porter.

This is a fixed-term festive role running from 26th October 2026 to 10th January 2027. The role is offered on a zero-hours contract.

Applicants should have good availability across key festive dates throughout the contract period, as this will be taken into account when offering shifts.

PRIMARY ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Wash all pots, pans, crockery, glassware, and cutlery throughout the day
• Store and organize all clean items, ensuring the Chefs have all required equipment
• Carry out a clean down of the Employee Break Room daily and a deep clean of the Kitchen twice daily
• Ensure the Back of House areas are clear from obstruction and maintain the bin store areas, ensuring they are clean and cleared daily.
• Follow the correct waste disposal and recycling procedures, maintaining the waste storage area within the hotel.
• Follow health and safety procedures closely at all times particularly pertaining to the handling of waste and manual handling.
• Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of safe chemical handling guidelines and best practice relating to the immaculate upkeep of food preparation areas.

APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS

The successful applicant will have/be:

• Have a minimum of two years working experience in a cleaning or cooking role.
• Hard-working individual who is able to work at pace.
• A reliable and dependable individual who is able to work well alone.
• Previous training in health and safety or chemical handling is beneficial but not required as this training will be provided upon starting.
• An enthusiastic individual who will promote our culture of positivity.
• Be task oriented with a great pride for the work they do and attention to detail.
• Flexible with shift patterns and available around the needs of our business.
