Job summary

DFDS Transport Planner role based in the UK involves planning and coordinating trailer movements across the UK and Europe. You will work with DFDS drivers and subcontractors to keep freight moving, using TMS and Excel, and respond swiftly to delays while maintaining accurate records.

You will join a busy planning team, require strong organisation and decision-making under pressure, and have good communication across multiple stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Experience in transport planning, preferably in ferry operations or logistics.
• Good understanding of port operations, sailing schedules, drivers' hours legislation and working time regulations.
• Confidence using Transport Management Systems (TMS) and Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate trailer movements, collections and deliveries using DFDS drivers and subcontractors.
• Match trailers to ferry sailings and ensure timely collections/deliveries.
• Manage transport activity through the TMS and track shipments.
• Communicate with customers, drivers, subcontractors and DFDS teams across the UK and Europe.
• Re-plan activity quickly in response to delays or disruptions.
• Work with the planning team to maximise utilisation and reduce empty running.
• Ensure transport records are accurate for operations and billing.
