Job description

Are you a confident, compassionate and genuinely caring Support Worker who can bring energy, humour and positivity to someone’s life?We are looking for female Support Workers to join a 2:1 support package supporting a young woman living with an Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) based in Rainham, Essex.About the client:She is an active young woman who enjoys getting out and about and likes having a clear plan and structure to her day. She enjoys a wide range of activities and interests, including:Listening to musicSpending time outdoorsYoga once a weekGoing to the gym three times a weekSwimming once a weekSpending time around animalsTaking part in activities that give her a sense of purpose, achievement and enjoymentThe role is about much more than providing care. You will be encouraged to help her stay active, engaged and connected to her community, while supporting her to explore new interests and opportunities. She lives at home with her mum and two siblings and their pet dog. Her other siblings have moved out but remain very involved in family life. She also spends two nights a week with her dad, so support will be provided at both family homes.About the role:At times, she can become extremely distressed. This may include shouting, swearing and thrashing her arms. She therefore needs Support Workers who are calm, emotionally resilient and confident in managing challenging situations, while understanding that these moments are not personal. It is also important that she is supported to feel like an individual rather than being defined by her disability. She can find environments or activities that make her feel visibly labelled as "disabled" upsetting, so you'll need to be creative and thoughtful about finding inclusive, everyday opportunities for her to enjoy the things she loves and be part of her local community.Shifts:Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday: 7:00am – 06:00pmSupport will be provided at the family home and at Dad's home on the nights she stays with him. Please note as part of the recruitment process, successful candidates will be required to attend a meet and greet with her and her family before commencing the role.If you're someone who can bring patience, positivity, humour and genuine care to this role, we'd love to hear from you. What we're looking for:We're looking for people who are:Genuinely caring, patient and proactiveConsistent and reliablePositive, with a good sense of humour and an enjoyment of a bit of banterConfident supporting someone who may become distressedCalm and reassuring during challenging momentsRespectful of her independence, choices and dignityAble to see the person, not the disabilityEncouraging and motivating, particularly when it comes to getting out, staying active and trying new thingsWilling to take the time to get to know her as an individualExperience of Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) is preferred, but the right attitude, personality and approach are equally important. We are seeking candidates with a full UK driving licence. What to look forward to:Pay up to £18.00/hour (based on experience)Paid DBS check and induction trainingConsistent work schedule for stabilityHoliday pay & Nest pensionRecognition through our Active Awards programmeRefer-a-Friend scheme – earn up to £1,000!Incredible support from our clinical and business leadership teamTake a look around the companyhttps://activecaregroup.co.uk/
