Job summary

ILS Case Management is seeking two Part-time Support Workers to join Olivia's care team in Totton. Roles include Waking Nights and Day shifts, supporting Olivia who has Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy and a visual impairment, with full-time complex care in the home and community.

Drivers with a full licence are required; DBS checks and references apply. Salary is £14.33–£15.44 per hour with 5.6 weeks holiday pro rata, pension and training opportunities. ASAP start subject to checks.

Qualifications

  • Female due to providing personal care.
  • Must be able to work with specialist equipment; training provided.
  • Experience with Cerebral Palsy is desirable.
  • Comfortable working in Olivia's home with family and APPA.
  • Empathetic, professional and able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Team player with good communication and feedback.
  • Willing to work flexible shifts and cover short notice.
  • Full driving licence required (endorsements to be disclosed).

Responsibilities

  • Assist Olivia and APPA with all aspects of care including moving and handling.
  • Implement daily therapeutic programmes to promote learning and care.
  • Assist with domestic tasks and keep equipment clean and tidy.
  • Work with the team to provide the best opportunity for Olivia's potential.
  • Support Olivia in the home and wider community as needed.
  • Collaborate with therapists, Case Manager and family for care planning.

We are recruiting two Part-time Support Workers to cover the following shifts:

Role 1 – Waking Nights
  • Wednesday and Thursday, 9:00pm to 8:00am
Role 2 – Days
  • Wednesday, 12:00pm to 6:00pm
  • Friday, 12:00pm to 8:00pm
Saturday shifts on alternate weekends
  • One Saturday per month, 8:00am to 5:00pm
  • One Saturday per month, 5:00pm to 10:00pm
Pay

£14.33 Monday to Friday

£15.44 Weekends and Bank Holidays

Job Summary

Do you have a passion for caring and a heart for making a positive impact? We are searching for enthusiastic Complex Care Support Workers to join Olivia's team.

Olivia, born in 2005, is a vibrant, music-loving young lady with a passion for rock music, and all things sparkly! She enjoys hydrotherapy, trips to the shops, and being pampered – especially when it comes to doing her hair. Olivia is full of life and always up for some fun!

Olivia has Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy, and a visual impairment, which means she requires full-time complex care. She is fed via a Jejunostomy tube, follows a 24-hour postural management plan, and relies on her wheelchair for all of her mobility. But more than anything, she loves to know what’s happening around her – communication is key to her happiness and wellbeing.

Pets

The household includes a friendly dog and some birds (don't worry, they’re in cages!).

Main Duties And Responsibilities
  • The central role of the Support Worker is to assist Olivia (and their APPA - Adult Placement PA) with all aspects of care relating to Olivia, (including moving and handling and a joined approach to care).
  • Implement daily therapeutic programmes that have been designed to promote their treatment by their team of Therapists. The Support Worker has a general role in promoting Olivia’s learning and care in the home and community.
  • The Support Worker will be expected to assist with ‘Olivia related’ domestic chores, such as helping to clear up following kitchen tasks, tidying their room, ensuring their equipment is clean and tidy and processing their washing.
  • It is essential that the Support Worker is prepared to assist with these tasks to ensure the smooth running of the care regime, as well as offering the APPA the opportunity to spend one to one time with them.
  • The Support Worker is expected to work cooperatively with Olivia's APPA, their family and/or the Case Manager, and their team of therapists to offer the best opportunity to fulfil her potential.
  • The Support Worker is expected to support Olivia and the APPA with all aspects of care, both within the family home and in the wider community.
  • Experience with complex medical needs, including JEJ feeding and suctioning
  • Compassion, patience, and a passion for care
  • Experience working with young adults and an interest in therapy

  • Must be able to work with specialist equipment (training will be provided). A Handling Management Plan is available and is designed to reduce the risk of handling injuries, but you may be required to bend, kneel, squat, push or pull.

  • Confident and comfortable working in Olivia’s own home and sensitive to the needs and wishes of her and her family
  • Can demonstrate commitment and passion for meeting Olivia's needs
