Job description

Role Description – Mental Health Support Worker

Gray Healthcare is recruiting support workers within the Bessacar area of Doncaster to support a gentleman in his 20s with diagnoses of Paranoid Schizophrenia and Autistic Spectrum Disorder. He lives independently and receives 1:1 support 24 hours a day. The individual has a good sense of humour, enjoys the company of support staff, and participates in regular outings using his mobility vehicle. Support is provided by an all-female team on mixed shifts of days and waking nights. We are recruiting drivers only for this role, as the individual uses a mobility vehicle to access the community.

Mental Health Support Worker Required Skills and Experience

• Full UK Driving License – Essential
• Social care experience, ideally within mental health and supporting individuals with Schizophrenia
• Experience encouraging individuals with complex health needs and Learning Disabilities
• Experience supporting individuals with challenging behaviours
• Experience implementing detailed care plans and risk assessments
• Current Right to Work in the UK and employment history in the UK for at least 6 months. Note: No sponsorship available.
• Subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references

Hours

36-hour contracts: 3 x 12-hour shifts per week, including day and waking night shifts.

or 24-hour contracts: 2 x 12-hour shifts per week.

Induction and Training

Initial online training covering company induction, systems, and medication. Followed by in-person training on PROACT-SCIPr-UK, a PBS approach to least restrictive practice. Additional person-centred training specific to the individual supported. Ongoing training and career development encouraged.
