GCIL (South Lanarkshire) is recruiting a Female Personal Assistant to support a 13-year-old girl in Rutherglen in the local community, helping her enjoy activities and build independence. The role includes mobility support, safe walking with a cane, and occasional personal care as needed.
The candidate must be patient, calm and adaptable, with a valid driving licence. Shifts include Saturdays, Sundays, or after-school on weekdays; hours may be 4 hours or split into two 2-hour sessions.
A patient, sociable and reliable female Personal Assistant is sought to support a 13-year-old girl living in Rutherglen, helping her enjoy activities in her local community and build her independence.
She is bubbly, funny and friendly, has a good sense of humour and loves talking to people. At home, she enjoys listening to music and making bracelets. She also likes going to McDonald's, shopping- especially for pyjamas- bowling, swimming and visiting parks.
This role will support the young girl to take part in activities she enjoys within her local community, build her confidence and independence, and explore new experiences. She is blind and uses a wheelchair, and utilises a cane outdoors or in unfamiliar settings.
A typical shift will involve supporting her to choose and access an activity in the local community. The PA should encourage independence, allow time for her to process information, remain aware of environmental triggers and adapt support calmly when needed.
We are looking for someone with a warm, lively personality who can enjoy a laugh with her while knowing when to take a step back. You should be patient, calm, understanding and able to adapt appropriately to her needs.
A valid driving licence is required.
Personal or professional experience is preferred but not essential. No specific training is required, although awareness of de-escalation techniques, environmental triggers and processing times would be helpful.
This post is open to female applicants only due to the occasional personal care requirements of the role. This is a genuine occupational requirement in accordance with Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010.
There are two friendly dogs in the family home.
