Job summary

Spire Homecare in Bath is seeking a Female Care Assistant to support clients with personal care and independence. You will work mornings and across shifts, driving between service locations as needed, with full training provided.

Requirements include a valid UK driving licence, a compassionate attitude, and availability from 07:00 for morning shifts. The role offers paid training, mileage allowance, and a pathway to Level 2/3 in Social Care.

Qualifications

• UK Driving Licence (and car for driving between service users’ properties).
• Friendly, caring, and positive attitude.
• Available from 07:00 on mornings to work.
• Work pattern includes Morning/Lunch/Evening shifts.

Responsibilities

• Assist service users with personal care needs, promoting dignity and independence.
• Support mobility and use of aids, while encouraging independence.
• Provide compassionate, wellbeing-focused care including emotional and spiritual needs.
• Read, write, and contribute to daily records and care plans as directed.
• Administer medications when trained and authorised.
• Report any health or circumstance changes to the registered manager.
• Encourage service users to maintain independence where possible.

About the role

Purpose of Position

• To share with other staff in meeting the personal care needs of service users in a way that respects the dignity of the individual and promotes independence.

• Work pattern will include Morning/Lunch/Evening shifts

Responsibilities

• Assisting service users with all personal care needs including, undressing, washing, bathing, and toileting needs. As well as supporting with their physical, emotional and spiritual needs)

• Assisting service users with mobility problems, mild learning difficulties and other physical disabilities, including promoting independent continence, and help in the use and care of aids and personal equipment.

• To ensure service users retain their dignity and individuality.

• To provide care for people who are dying or have progressive illnesses (end of life care).

• To engage in the promotion of mental and physical wellbeing.

• To read and write reports and take part in staff and service users’ meetings and in training activities as directed.

• When professionally trained, administer medications.

• To comply with the organisation’s policies and procedures at all times, which includes the service users' care plan, medication needs and the completion of accurate daily records (as per our policies and procedures).

• To report to the registered manager any significant changes in the health or circumstances of a service user.

• To encourage service users to remain as independent as possible.

• All staff are required to attend mandatory training where appropriate, including induction and National Vocational Qualifications or their equivalent.

• Identify and support appropriately service users with the capacity and those who lack capacity.

• Understand the requirement of the New Fundamental Standard Regulations 9 – 20, in relation to the Care Quality Commission Inspect regime.

• To perform such other duties as may reasonably be required.
