Job summary

Spire Homecare in Frome is seeking a dedicated Care Assistant to support service users with personal care, mobility, and wellbeing. You will work across mornings and day shifts, ensuring dignity and independence for clients in their own homes.

You will be supported by experienced management, receive funded training, and access progression opportunities. A driving license and car to travel between client locations are required, and a positive, compassionate attitude is essential.

Qualifications

• UK driving license required and car available for driving between service users’ properties.
• Friendly, caring and positive attitude.
• Available from 07:00 on mornings.
• Work pattern will include Morning/Lunch/Evening shifts.

Responsibilities

• Assist service users with personal care including undressing, washing, bathing and toileting while promoting dignity.
• Support mobility and continence and aid use.
• Ensure service users retain dignity and individuality.
• Provide end-of-life care where needed and engage in promoting mental and physical wellbeing.
• Read/write reports and participate in meetings and training activities.
• Administer medications when trained and comply with care plans and daily records.
• Report to the registered manager any significant health changes.
• Encourage independence and attend mandatory training and NVQ or equivalent.
• Identify and support service users lacking capacity and understand CQC standards.
• Perform other duties as reasonably required.

Purpose of Position

• To share with other staff in meeting the personal care needs of service users in a way that respects the dignity of the individual and promotes independence.

Responsibilities

• Assisting service users with all personal care needs including, undressing, washing, bathing, and toileting needs. As well as supporting with their physical, emotional and spiritual needs)
• Assisting service users with mobility problems, mild learning difficulties and other physical disabilities, including promoting independent continence, and help in the use and care of aids and personal equipment.
• To ensure service users retain their dignity and individuality.
• To provide care for people who are dying or have progressive illnesses (end of life care).
• To engage in the promotion of mental and physical wellbeing.
• To read and write reports and take part in staff and service users’ meetings and in training activities as directed.
• When professionally trained, administer medications.
• To comply with the organisation’s policies and procedures at all times, which includes the service users' care plan, medication needs and the completion of accurate daily records (as per our policies and procedures).
• To report to the registered manager any significant changes in the health or circumstances of a service user.
• To encourage service users to remain as independent as possible.
• All staff are required to attend mandatory training where appropriate, including induction and National Vocational Qualifications or their equivalent.
• Identify and support appropriately service users with the capacity and those who lack capacity.
• Understand the requirement of the New Fundamental Standard Regulations 9 – 20, in relation to the Care Quality Commission Inspect regime.
• To perform such other duties as may reasonably be required.
