Job summary

Reading Borough Council seeks a capable caretaker to support the federation Premises Manager in day-to-day site management across Oxford Road Community School and Wilson Primary School. The role focuses on maintaining a safe, clean environment and coordinating maintenance tasks with external contractors.

The successful candidate will be practical, proactive and able to build good working relationships within a dedicated team, with hours 8.00am to 4.00pm, Monday to Friday, across two school sites.

Qualifications

• Good practical and general DIY skills.
• The ability to problem solve.
• Ability to work with external contractors and manage holiday and term time maintenance works.
• Good organisational and prioritisation skills, flexible and with a willingness to work out of hours as required.
• A proactive and positive person who can build good working relationships and be part of a dedicated team.

Responsibilities

• Take responsibility for day-to-day site management across the federation.
• Maintain the condition of the schools and ensure a safe, clean environment.
• Work with external contractors on maintenance works.
• Coordinate holiday and term-time maintenance activities.
• Be based at Oxford Road Community School and Wilson Primary School, 8.00am–4.00pm, Monday to Friday.

Oxford Road Community School & Wilson Primary School are beautiful Victorian schools with a rich history. We are looking for a caretaker, to work alongside our Federation Premises Manager to take responsibility for the day to day site management across the federation, to continue to maintain the condition of the schools, ensuring a safe, clean and positive environment.
