Job summary

Reading Borough Council is seeking a Federation Caretaker to support Oxford Road Community School and Wilson Primary School. The role is 37 hours per week, permanent and on-site, with duties covering daily site management and maintenance across the federation.

You will join the premises team to ensure a safe, clean environment and coordinate with external contractors. A proactive, hands-on candidate with DIY skills and flexibility is preferred.

Qualifications

• Good practical and general DIY skills.
• Ability to problem solve.
• Ability to work with external contractors and manage holiday and term time maintenance works.
• Good organisational and prioritisation skills, flexible and with a willingness to work out of hours as required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in day-to-day site management across the federation.
• Maintain the condition of the schools to ensure a safe, clean and positive environment.
• Liaise with external contractors for scheduled maintenance works.
• Be flexible to work out of hours as required.
