Job summary

North Star is seeking a Fast Rescue Craft Coxswain to join its ERRV fleet. Candidates must hold OPITO FRC Coxswain and ITSO certificates and be ready for variable start dates.

You will take charge of Rescue Craft on launch, perform routine maintenance, monitor engine readiness, and contribute to safety on deck and during maintenance periods.

The role offers a competitive salary, 28 days on/off rotation, contributory pension, and access to the Employee Assistance Programme.

• OPITO FRC Coxswain certificate required.
• ITSO certificate required.

Responsibilities

• Take command of Rescue Craft and crew on launch, following Masters orders.
• Maintain and repair Fast Rescue Craft and Daughter Craft.
• Prepare FRC engines to ensure operational readiness.
• Report defects to Chief Engineer and Master; coordinate upkeep.
• Perform on-deck daytime duties as directed.
• Contribute to vessel fire fighting team.
• Monitor safe practices of shore contractors during maintenance.

Candidates must hold valid OPITO FRC Coxswain & ITSO certificates.

Fast Rescue Craft Coxswain Is Responsible For The Following

• Taking charge and command of Rescue Craft and its crew upon launch, subject to Masters orders.
• General upkeep and local repairs of Fast Rescue Craft / Daughter Craft.
• Running up FRC Engines to ensure they operate
• Reporting all FRC / DC defects to the Chief Engineer and Master, and liaising with both regarding general upkeep of craft.
• General on deck daytime duties, as directed by the Chief Mate.
• Form part of the vessel fire fighting team.
• Monitoring safe working practices of shore contractors during periods of maintenance.
